Caring Ministry

Our Caring Ministry offers spiritual, physical, and psychological support to those who are sick, homebound, chronically ill, or recovering from surgery as well as to caregivers, and to those who have lost loved ones in death.

Our goal is to bring to those in need the healing comfort of God through practical assistance and the continuing prayers of the
members of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

For more information, or to request assistance through the Caring Ministry, please contact the rectory at 301-262-2141, x10 or Church@SPXChurchBowie.org.
We serve the parishioners in their times of need by:
  • visiting the sick
  • bringing the Holy Eucharist to the sick, aged, and homebound
  • notifying the Pastor when those who are sick are in need of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
  • ascertaining the needs of the sick and identifying resources to meet their needs
  • assisting the bereaved by helping them to plan the funeral liturgy and by lending support at the viewing and at the funeral
  • knitting and crocheting shawls for the sick and shut-ins of our Parish as well as other needy individuals
    • our Shawl Ministry meets in the Rectory on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays after the 9:00AM Mass
Other Support:
  • An annual anointing Mass for the sick
  • Periodic retreats for the bereaved
  • Occasional education seminars
  • Bereavement support groups for those who have lost loved ones
  • Remembrance on special holidays
