Q:  What is RESTORE?
A: RESTORE!  is the name our pastor has given to our parish effort at ongoing renewal.  Taken from the motto of our parish patron, St. Pius X, our goal is to call the members of our parish to DISCIPLESHIP.  Discipleship includes a commitment to Worship, Fellowship, Stewardship, Ministry (within the parish), Mission (outside the parish), and Personal Holiness. 

Q: What are we attempting to RESTORE?
A.  In selecting his motto, St. Pius X was inspired by the line from St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians (Eph. 1:10) when he wrote that it was God's plan "to unite all things in Christ".  Our goal is for our parish to be united with God's plan and Christ's vision for His Church.

Q: Why do we need to be RESTORED?
A: As our parish celebrated its 50 years of faith (1962-2012) we chose to renew our parish life and call our parishioners to a deeper commitment to faith.  The sad reality is that former Catholics (the de-churched) are now the third largest denomination in the U.S.  The four Bowie parishes combined saw a decline of over 2,000 members in the past twelve years.  RESTORE! calls all members of the parish to a renewal of faith while also reaching out to the de-churched in our area.

Q: How will this be done?
A: Our pastoral leadership team (parish staff) developed a plan to begin the process to RESTORE! our parish.  The plan was presented in the Fall of 2013, as our anniversary year concluded. Fr. Mike Jones, our pastor, preached on the RESTORE! plan in his homilies at all Masses over several weekends September 28-29 through October 12-13 . Q: What can I do?
A: Pray for the success of RESTORE! and for the renewal of our parish.  To get a better idea of the source of this effort read the book, "Rebuilt" by Fr. Michael White and Tom Corcoran and "Forming Intentional Disciples" by Sherry Weddell  (both available in our parish library and through Amazon.com).  Start to consider in what ways you can contribute to the renewal of St. Pius X Parish.  Think of people in your life (family, friends, neighbors, co-workers) who are not a member of any church and are looking for a spiritual home.  Contact any member of the parish staff with ideas or suggestions. OUR RESTORE TIME LINE:
To date, more than 400 parishioners have committed to supporting our Restore! plan.  Members of our pastoral leadership team have contacted all those who signed up and meetings are taking place to launch the various new ministries.
Here is our time line for Restore! : Our Greeter Ministry began last July,  the Ops Teams began serving last Nov. Our info station, Pius2U, opened in November.   Tech Teams are being contacted to assess their technical skills and levels of interest. Cafe Pius launched Feb. 1 & 2.  Meetings to expand our Children's Ministries are now taking place to expand our offerings as of Easter 2014. Our first two weekend experiences of Christ Renews His Parish  were held in March 2014. Small Groups launched on Feb. 21  We have ordered supplies and are creating procedures for our Parking Team ministry.

Two books that have greatly influenced our pastoral leadership team (parish staff) in shaping our plans for parish renewal are Rebuilt by Fr. Michael White and Tom Corcoran and Forming Intentional Disciples by Sherry Weddell. Copies of these books are available for purchase after weekend Masses in our parish library for just $10 per book.

Preaching series on Restore!
In September and October, Fr. Mike Jones preached at all Masses for three weekends on our parish plan for renewal called Restore!  The audio of these homilies is available for download on the parish website under the Restore! tab. 

RESTORE! Weekends
In the summer of 2013, Fr. Mike asked for volunteers interested in presenting a parish renewal weekend, similar to the Encounter, Cursillo model. These weekends are offered to parishioners twice a year.  After reviewing several options and formats, our parish chose the renewal process called Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP, but pronounced "chirp").  CRHP has been used by over 1200 parishes across the U.S. since 1969. The renewal weekends are offered separately for men and women and take place at the parish, beginning on a Saturday morning and concluding late Sunday afternoon.  Two training weekends were held in March 2014 (March 7-9 for women and March 21-23 for men). The first two weekends open to the parish at large will be held Sept. 13-14 for women and Sept. 27-28 for men and the next two will be held March 7-8, 2015 for women and March 21-22 for men.  For more information, click here, or contact Fr. PERSONAL HOLINESS
Silent Eucharistic Adoration is held every Thursday in the church from 9:30am-8pm. Plan to come and spend some time in prayer before the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
