AUG-TOBER

posted Aug 17, 2013, 7:32 AM by Pastor SPX
The weather this week was absolutely amazing. As a native Washingtonian, I can't remember an August like this: cool mornings, low humidity, temps in the 70's.  A weatherman on the local news gave it a great name: Augtober.
He correctly said, "this feels more like October than August."  But hey, I'll take it!  Weather and the seasons of nature help us reflect on the seasons of our lives; our personal lives, the life of the Church and the life of our parish. As St. Pius X Church prepares to end its 50th anniversary celebrations next month, we look to the future.  Though we are heading into Fall, for our parish, Spring is coming. In the Fall, beginning the weekend of September 28 & 29 I will start to present our parish plan for renewal called RESTORE!  Our plans have been heavily influenced and inspired by two books: Rebuilt by Fr. Michael White & Tom Corcoran and Forming Intentional Disciples by Sherry Weddell.  We have ordered copies of both books and they will be available for sale in our parish library in a few weeks. Our pastoral leadership team (parish staff) and I have been meeting weekly for the past few months to create a plan for our parish going forward.  We are excited by the possibilities for our parish and the opportunities for evangelization facing us. I ask for your prayers.  May God continue to inspire us as we go forward.  May the Holy Spirit guide and direct us with wisdom and grace.  And through the intercession of St. Pius X, may we be "restored in all things through Christ."
