Sacraments

Sacramental Guidelines
The Sacramental Guidelines of the Archdiocese of Washington require that readiness be determined before children receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, and Reconciliation. For further information, please contact Fr. Mike Jones at Pastor@SPXChurchBowie.org or x14.

Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance):
Offered on Saturdays from 4:00PM 4:45PM or by appointment with a priest.
During Lent, confessions are also available every Wednesday from 7-8pm.

Sacrament of Matrimony:
Couples contemplating marriage should contact one of the parish priests at least six months in advance of their intended marriage.
Marriage Preparation is first conducted by a priest or a married couple to help the engaged couple to better communicate and understand the sacramental commitment. Please call the rectory at x10 to make these arrangements.

Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick:
For persons suffering from a serious illness, it is intended as a source of comfort. It is not necessary to be in danger of death to receive the Sacrament.  Persons anticipating surgery are encouraged to receive the anointing prior to surgery.  Contact one of the parish priests to make arrangements.  If a family member who is a parishioner is hospitalized, please contact the rectory office so that the priests will be informed.
Sacrament of Baptism:
If you are expecting your first child and plan to have the baptism at St. Pius, you must be registered, practicing members of the parish.  Please contact the pastor to register and receive more information.  You must also attend a preparation session before the baptism.  We suggest you attend this session before the child is born.  Sessions are held one Wednesday a month at 7:30PM in the Rectory.  The Pastor, Fr. Mike Jones, can be contacted at Pastor@SPXChurchBowie.org or x14.

Preparation for first reception of the Eucharist and Reconciliation, and the sacrament of Confirmation are conducted annually. Please contact Mary Beth Fitzmaurice or Maria Kaplan, ReligiousEd@SPXChurchBowie.org or 301-262-3644.

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the process through which non-Catholics learn about the Catholic faith and explore becoming fully initiated members of the Church. Please contact Erin Stalzer at, Formation@SPXChurchBowie.org or x12.
